Elderly man dies after fire in block of flats in Glasgow as police investigate
An elderly man has died after a fire at a block of flats in Glasgow.
Emergency crews raced to the blaze on Ascot Court in the Anniesland area of the city at 6.50pm on Thursday, November 30. Medics attended and the 71-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed. Meanwhile, police and fire chiefs are carrying out a joint investigation into the fatal incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of a fire at a property on Ascot Court, Glasgow, around 6.50pm on Thursday, 30 November, 2023. Emergency services attended and a 71-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin are aware. A joint investigation is being carried out with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”
